[YEAH TOTALLY FINE. But eventually he will come home, totally oblivious to the drama bombs! It was a pretty typical day shift, full of illnesses and less stupid injuries than the night shift. But he'll come home, bags in tow with the stuff that Cat mentioned they needed and other items]
Hey I'm home!
[He sets the bags on the entry table, before pulling off his cloak and trying to kick off his boots]
[There might be a couple empty pie pans lying around, as if anyone here knows how to bake. And the stench of MISERY.
And after trying to act as though nothing was wrong around Cat earlier, Allen doesn't feel like socializing anymore. So when he hears Kaneis arrive, he elects to remain quiet. In hopes he'll think Allen's not home, or something.]
[Allen dammit we told you to stop buying that cologne scent!!]
[He notices the pie pans, as well as Allen's coat and shoes still there. The lack of greeting is weird, but he'll rationalize it]
Hm. Maybe he fell asleep.
[Cat said he wasn't fine, but honestly that could mean all sorts of things. But he'll actually leave him alone for now. Opting to instead finish getting himself settled in after work. Put away the groceries, change into more casual clothes, get all the bobby pins out of his hair so it's let down, check his tablet for any messages- that sort of stuff.]
[Once he's finished with all that, it's not too long until Allen can probably pick up the tell tale sounds and smells of Zelos cooking dinner. Seems like it's noodle gratin and vegetables tonight. ]
This is the hardest moment of Allen's life. His stomach still wants dinner. His heart is kicking his stomach and wants to claw its way out of his chest and find a higher window to leap from.
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER Allen does not immediately burst forth from his room asking when dinner will be ready. Though he can be heard pacing back and forth.
Should he go get food...
He doesn't really have that much of an appetite, really...
[He hears the pacing during moments where he's not chopping or doing anything that requires a lot of attention. Huh. So he's awake but not hovering asking about dinner? What's up with that??]
[But whatever, he'll keep cooking until it's finished before calling out- like it's a perfectly ordinary thing for Allen to be in such dire indecision in his room over dinner and angst.]
Dinner's ready!
[He meanwhile spoons up his own small plate of food with some tea he brewed, moving to sit down at the table to eat himself. Gratin with some vegetables and rolls. Delicious. ]
Maybe ten minutes, which feels like a lot longer!, and then cracks open his door and steps out. Hoping Kaneis has finished up already and left some gratin, so he can eat without having to, say, interact with anyone.]
QUELLE SURPRISE! His eyes widen, before flattening his expression out a second later. ACT NATURAL, ALLEN WALKER. He brazenly heads towards the table, looking for food rather than at Kaneis.]
[He's hoping. He's hoping Kaneis had a particularly exhausting day at work and will decide to sleep for once. Soon. He pivots around and makes his way to the counter, with a quiet,] Thanks.
[Serving himself. . . in silence. He is experiencing a lot of very powerful feelings right now and he is trying to express none of them as he quickly scoops out some (a little) gratin onto a plate.]
[And he notices. He notices the attempt to not show any emotions, the quiet. He takes a few sips of his tea in the silence, before he finally decides to speak up]
Cat said you weren't well. Don't know what happened, but she's too smart for your act.
[So was he. but he decides to let that part be left unsaid. He gives a light shrug as he holds the mug between his hands. It was still warm to the touch. He doesn't look at Allen anymore, turning his head and sparing him of someone seeing his reaction.]
I don't expect you to want to talk about what happened with me. [And that was fine. Goddess knows he has a long list of issues he never speaks about with Allen] But don't feel like you gotta put on an act for my sake.
[He grips the spoon tightly, staring very intently at the noodle dish.
Ugh, he thought he was doing better than that. Is he really so easy to read? Of course he couldn't fool her.
A part of him thinks, he should tell Kaneis something. No, he knows he'll need to. He lives with him, after all. And Cheria. And Sophie... But what can he say to them?
He can't even begin to think of what, not yet.]
It's... nothing.
[No, that won't pass. He tries to keep his voice level,]
No, it's just that - somebody new from my world arrived.
['Our' being everyone except the Noah, of course. If Link works for the Order, he's not an enemy. He's not someone 'bad'... but he's not a friend, either.]
Weirdly when people put it like that is when I know to start worrying.
[But he'll fall silent beyond that, backing off and seemingly going back to his tablet. If Allen doesn't want to talk about it, he doesn't have to talk about it]
I've never known you to be so concerned...! Really, there's no need.
[DON'T WORRY, IT WOULD BE WEIRD COMING FROM YOU. He grabs his plate and heads to his room, planning to eat what he can and then just lie down until... things make more sense in the morning, hopefully.]

[Except no, he's sitting at the table, reading through the tablet boredly. He'll raise an eyebrow as he looks up at Allen. ]
Oh there you are. I was starting to think you died or something.

Someone bad?
[Another Noah? An enemy? He knows how apparently dangerous one Noah is. Another one here...well, he could see why that'd make any kid worried]

Allen pauses - because that's a good question.]
No.
He's on our side.

No. It's nothing to worry about.
